According to the lawsuit, the”Son of Sam” law in New York applies to this incident, where someone convicted of a crime can’t utilize that offense to gain. According to the lawsuit, Chiesa believes McGregor profited from the UFC 223 incident, partially because it attracted more attention to the card, and because the UFC utilized footage of the bus attack to promote the McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov fight at UFC 229. Keep in mind the UFC 229 pay-per-view was the biggest selling PPV that the UFC has ever done, so McGregor made millions of dollars for that fight, and Chiesa needs a piece of the pie.
